Book Review * Finding His Guys by J.P. Oliver & Linda Kandi

Book Blurb

Coming out was hard enough – but coming out with two partners? That feels impossible.

When the news broke that my dad had been using his position at the fertility clinic to do things he shouldn’t, it sent our small town into uproar. That the world now knows that my overbearing father isn’t as squeaky clean as he seems might even be worth it… except that he’s taking my mother and me down with him.

Things in my family have gotten really rough, but there are two constants that I can still rely on: my best friend Eli, and our new friend, Nathanial. They’ve been keeping me sane while we’re on summer break from the university, but I’m not sure how much longer that’s going to last. Because between Eli’s gorgeous dimples and Nathanial’s wild curls, I’m a goner.

Finding out that my crushes aren’t one sided takes this summer from hot to scorching, but a relationship is hard enough with two people. Can we really make this work with all three of us?

Book Review

This is book 2 in the Benson Brothers series and although I didn’t read book 1, I don’t think it was necessary to bring anything more to Finding His Guys.

I always enjoy a good menage story so I’ll usually get them when I see them available. I’ve read some really great stories and some not so great, this one falls in the middle. I enjoyed the story of friends becoming lovers, I liked the guys, the settings and how it evolved. I wasn’t happy with the way the story was told.

The story was told through each character and then each with their own chapter. When you have 3 characters in a story each getting every other chapter it is hard to keep the 3 characters together in my head, they are always a bit separated. Especially during sex scenes you want to FEEL what sensations the characters are feeling, you want the blending of the bodies along with the blending of the characters feelings during the scene. We don’t get this so the sexual activity is very “meh”.

Part of the “meh” feelings this book gave me is because the authors left out any character visualization. We got slender and lean, curly hair. What we didn’t get was a visual description of the characters, not even a shadow of a description to even tell which of the characters is the cover model. This lack of description is getting to be one of my biggest pet peeves. How can an author put out a book for sale and not give any descriptive characteristics of your characters? For me this is a total fail when it comes to storytelling, the story is incomplete as far as I am concerned.

So I think this book is all I am going to read by these authors, if this is a sampling of their work it left me very disappointed.
